As American tourists visiting Barbados, an urgent care was the last place we expected to end up, and we were honestly a little apprehensive about visiting a medical facility in a foreign country without knowing what to expect. The day before, while swimming at Carlisle Bay, my wife accidentally grabbed a rope with buoys about 50 yards offshore and did not realize jellyfish were nestled around it. The locals were incredibly helpful and immediately treated the stings with vinegar and cream. Unfortunately, the next morning she developed an allergic reaction and her face became swollen. We arrived at this urgent care around 8 AM after it was recommended to us, and we were very pleasantly surprised. The staff was professional, caring, and efficient. We were seen almost immediately, and within minutes my wife was receiving IV treatment and medication. The doctor and nurse were both wonderful. They checked on her constantly, explained what was happening, and made both of us feel much more comfortable. There was even a little of that warm Bajan vibe we had experienced throughout the island, which helped ease our nerves considerably. They also provided all of the necessary documentation for us to submit a claim to our insurance company and gave us a prescription that we were able to fill right next door at a local pharmacy. The cost was another surprise. Without local insurance, the entire urgent care visit, including the IV treatment and multiple medications, was 380 BBD, about 190 USD. The three prescription medications were only 10 BBD each, significantly less than what we would typically expect to pay in the United States. What started as a stressful and uncertain situation turned into a very reassuring experience. We felt comfortable, well cared for, and genuinely looked after from the moment we arrived. Great job to the entire team, and thank you for taking such good care of my wife.

Had an ultrasound done on my knee, that I had dislocated a few tines, this afternoon by Dr. Sonal. She was very thorough and explained everything. I didn't know beforehand that joint ultrasounds were done, if I had known years ago when the first dislocation had happened I think I would be in a better state with my knee. She was able to show me exactly what is wrong with my knee by showing a side by side comparison with my good knee to show what things should look like versus what they currently look like with my bad knee.

Mixed experiences - if you go in the dead of night or when it’s empty service is pretty prompt. Outside of that you’re just paying lots for an experience no better or faster than the free polyclinics. Some of the doctors are pleasant some are quite rude. The nurses have been generally pleasant. But if you’re visiting during the day forget about anything called urgent - and when overwhelmed all the staff are pretty rude/dismissive. One definitely feels neglected/forgotten once they have a few patients. Not really worth it tbh

Visiting Barbados from Canada on our 2nd night my husband fell and dislocated his shoulder. The whole team at Urgent Care was top notch! We were seen promptly, and our concerns resolved. Highly recommend should you (unfortunately) require medical care in Barbados!

The staff here can be hit or miss. I came in on a Sunday with a ruptured Achilles, and everything went smoothly. They scheduled me for an ultrasound the next day. When I arrived, I was sent to the back, but the receptionist wouldn’t acknowledge me. After waiting 10 minutes, I let her know I had a flight to catch, but nothing changed. After 30 minutes of no updates, I had no choice but to leave, fearing I’d miss my flight.
