Dr. Cuevas treated my daughter at Ashford Hospital. He was impersonal, demeaning—needless to say, unprofessional—in his treatment of her. On Mother's Day, he greeted my wife by saying, "This is patient number 26." He refused to listen to what my wife was saying—"She doesn't have a cough"—"She does have a cough"—and was intransigent in re-evaluating the treatment provided by the emergency room, something any doctor, let alone a pediatrician with Dr. Cuevas's experience, should question. He ended up giving her medication—antibiotics and respiratory therapy—for gastritis. Explain that to me.
It seems his passion for his wellness clinic prevents him from treating patients with the decency and commitment that should define the Socratic ethics of a physician. Be alert—lest you become just another number and the cure be worse than the disease.
